Traditional Classic Country: the country music of the 1940s through the early 1970s, commercial-free, 24 hours a day, from Heartland Public Radio.
📻 Historia: Heartland Public Radio began operating under that name on January 1, 2007, the day its classic country station was renamed "HPR1: The Classic Country Channel." The same day, the non-profit, listener-supported network opened a second live stream, HPR2, devoted to Western music.
On July 1, 2010, HPR2 dropped the Western format for a modernized take on classic country, rebranded in 2011 as "Today's Classic Country," which let HPR1 narrow its focus to traditional classic country from the 1940s through the early 1970s. Today HPR1 plays that music around the clock, commercial-free, from Branson, Missouri. Its weekly specialty show "Good 'N Country" with Ken Hippler premieres on Saturdays at 3 p.m. Central and is rebroadcast several times during the week.
HPR1 shares the network with HPR2, which covers classic country from the mid-1970s through the mid-1990s; HPR3, a seasonal channel of classic country, western and bluegrass Christmas music that usually runs from November 1 through New Year's Day; and HPR4, dedicated to Bluegrass Gospel.
