Uplifting music and faith-based programming. WMYZ 88.7 FM brings the Contemporary Christian sound of Z88.3 to The Villages, Leesburg and the surrounding area of Lake, Sumter and Marion counties.
📻 History: WMYZ 88.7 FM is a non-commercial Class C2 Christian station licensed to The Villages, Florida, and one of the strongest signals in the Z88.3 network, with 35,000 watts ERP from an antenna 82 meters (269 feet) above average terrain. It began as a rebroadcaster serving Clermont, west of Orlando.
Central Florida Educational Foundation, the nonprofit that runs Z88.3, then won FCC approval to move the 88.7 signal from Clermont to The Villages, while listeners in the Clermont area were redirected to the stronger 88.3 signal of the Orlando flagship WPOZ. That flagship signed on August 14, 1995, and it gained power after the foundation shut down WLMS, which had shared the 88.3 frequency.
Today WMYZ carries the main Z88.3 Contemporary Christian programming and broadcasts in HD Radio. Its HD2 channel carries a Christian oldies format called ZRewind and feeds FM translator W245AZ at 96.9 FM in The Villages. The station is owned by Central Florida Educational Foundation, Inc. and operated by Z Ministries, Inc., serving The Villages, Lady Lake, Leesburg and nearby areas.
