Power 98 Jams, 98.3 FM: current hits, pop and urban music in English for Mexicali, the Imperial Valley and the border region.
📻 History: The 98.3 FM frequency in La Rumorosa, Baja California, was put out for bid in 1992 under the call sign XHRBN-FM. Francisco Javier Fimbres Durazo, who already operated XEKT 1390 AM in Tecate, won the concession, and the station signed on November 23, 1994.
On August 5, 1996 it became XHFJ-FM, using the owner's initials, and aired an alternative rock format. On November 11, 2003 it took the call sign XHMIX-FM to match its name at the time, Mix 98. In 2005 it became Zona 98 with a rock format, and in 2010 it changed again to its current Power 98 Jams brand, a contemporary hit radio format in English.
In 2016 it received authorization to raise its effective radiated power from 30,000 to 50,000 watts, and since January 2024 it has run a new Broadcast Electronics STX 10 transmitter. Operated by California Medios through Sistemas de Comunicación Baja Californiana, S.A. de C.V., with Fimbres as owner, the station reaches Mexicali and San Luis Río Colorado in Mexico, and the Imperial Valley in California and Yuma, Arizona in the United States.
