JAZZ · CANBERRA · AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY · AUSTRALIA
Canberra's own music and arts radio. An independent, community-powered station playing jazz, classical, blues, folk and world music, with programs on literature, theatre, film and local concerts.
📻 History: ArtSound FM 92.7 (callsign 1ART) began in 1983 as Canberra Stereo Public Radio, a volunteer-run initiative to bring quality FM programming to the city's music and arts community. After a 17-year campaign for a permanent licence, it was awarded a full-time community licence and launched as ArtSound FM on 15 July 2000. Broadcasting from the Manuka Arts Centre, it is listener-funded and volunteer-run, and a member of the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia and the Australian Fine Music Network. It airs guest interviews and live, locally recorded concerts, and is also heard on 90.3 FM in Tuggeranong and via DAB+.
